Launch Pad Educational Programs, A Project of Above the Line

http://www.launchpadsantacruz.org

Launch Pad’s mission is to provide in-depth individualized instruction to elementary and secondary students who have learning disabilities or differences, such as dyslexia, or significant gaps in achievement from a variety of causes, and who also come from foster care, homelessness, low-income families, or other situations that make it difficult for them to access the educational help they need to succeed. Instruction is tailored to each student’s unique learning needs and focuses on building needed foundation skills such as reading, written language, and math. The individual sessions are supplemented with small group homework support. Launch Pad offers these specialized educational services through an all-volunteer learning center that operates Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in downtown Soquel. The volunteers receive comprehensive training and supervision so they can offer in-depth instruction, using proven teaching techniques, that starts at the student’s current academic level and advances step by step to help the student reach grade level.
