Cultural Homestay International invites you to host an international exchange student in your home! To set up a meeting and consultation, please call your local representative Anna at (831) 234-4425 or email at msahn0613@yahoo.com. ABOUT CHI: CHI is a non-profit educational program that brings students from all over the world to North American high schools and families. The Academic Year Program (AYP) gives families the opportunity to share their way of life and values they hold dear with a high school student from another country for 5 or 10 months. Hosting families also learn about the students from the perspective of their cultural backgrounds. For over 25 years students and host families have enjoyed CHI homestay experiences. It is our sincere hope and intent that such exchanges of young people will promote the concepts of international friendship, understanding and peace. ABOUT CHI STUDENTS: CHI Students come from countries all over 30 different countries around the world. They are: * Carefully selected by CHIys overseas partner organizations * From varied socio-economic backgrounds * Involved in interests ranging from sports, to computers, to music * Between the age of 15 and 18 * Eager to become part of your family and share your life * Full of dreams and excitement Additionally, all CHI students are fully covered by health and accident insurance and provide their own spending money. Students arrive in August or January for one semester or a complete school year. Students participate in general studies and in extracurricular activities. Lifetime friendships are made with the host family and the school. ABOUT CHI HOST FAMILIES: YOU!: CHI host families are the foundation of the CHI program. By volunteering to open their homes and hearts to the world's young people they are donating to them an uncommon gift: an offer of friendship, a willingness to share themselves and their way of life, and a genuine interest in learning about other cultures and customs. CHI host families are special people of extraordinary goodwill and generosity of spirit. They enjoy teenagers and are willing to treat their students as a member of the family - no matter what that family may look like! Empty nesters, single people, single-parent homes, and all other types of families are welcome in the CHI program. * CHI host families are usually very busy, involved people and tolerant, flexible, supportive, and caring. * They are willing to provide the overseas high school students with room and board. * CHI host families are willing to make a difference in their own family, their community, their country and ultimately, the world.
