To promote Autism Awareness in our community, and to provide emotional and educational support to families seeking alternative therapies for their children. We are seeking to pair volunteers with families in the Santa Cruz community who are making use of the Son-Rise intervention program with their autistic children. A team of leaders and volunteers implements each Son-Rise program, which is relationship based, fun, and transformative for child and program team. Because autistic children are extraordinarily sensitive to the emotions and thoughts of those around them, the Son-Rise program offers support to the team in becoming more clear, present and joyful, ready and able to make rewarding contact with the child we serve and play with. The most successful Son-Rise programs have multiple volunteers, as each volunteer brings their own unique style to the program.
