CASA of Santa Cruz County

"CASA is a child's voice in dependency court, providing advocacy, stability, and hope to children who have been abused, neglected or abandoned." The judge appoints a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate, everyday person like you, to fulfill three main roles: -Visit weekly with a child to provide support and consistency-- listening to the child's fears and hopes. -Gather information about a child's life. As officers of the court, CASA's talk to everyone involved in the child's life, i.e., relatives, teachers, foster parents, social workers, attorneys, medical and mental professionals, to best understand the child's needs and strengths; -From information gathered, the volunteer presents his or her best recommendations to the judge, for the safety and welfare of his or her CASA child.
