Opportunity Details
Support habitat restoration of popular day-use areas and trails by watering and weeding around the native plants previously planted!
Volunteers will remove non-native vegetation patches of Ice plant (Carpobrotus edulis), Himalayan Blackberry (Rubus armeniacus), and English Ivy (Hedera helix), and other weeds such as mustard (Brassica spp.) and wild radish (Raphanus raphanistrum).
Hand tools such as hori horis, pulaskis, hand clippers, and loppers may be used to remove encroaching non-native vegetation around plantings. We will employ 5-gallon buckets or other water carrying equipment to transfer water to the planting areas.
Ages 8 and older welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a signed waiver). Snacks will be provided but personal lunches are recommended. Steamers Lane Coffee Supply has food to purchase if volunteers want lunch or snacks/refreshments beyond what we provide.
