We are seeking immediate and ongoing volunteer support to stabilize a community-based CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program serving South County Santa Cruz. This effort supports a network of approximately 30 small-scale farmers and provides fresh produce to over 300 families. Due to recent funding disruptions, there is an urgent need to sustain operations for the next few weeks.
Our highest priority is CSA distribution support, where volunteers will assist with assembling produce boxes, setting up and breaking down distribution sites, and supporting the flow of community pick-ups. Distribution takes place primarily on Wednesdays, with a need for up to four volunteers per shift.
Secondary needs include harvesting support, where volunteers may assist farmers with light harvesting, sorting, and basic field preparation under guidance, depending on farm needs.
We also require support with aggregation and distribution logistics, including sorting and organizing produce, staging items for delivery, and assisting with loading and unloading at aggregation sites. Volunteer support is critical during this period to prevent crop loss, stabilize farmer income, reduce operational strain on food hub staff, and ensure continued access to fresh, healthy food for the community.
