Visiting Hospice Volunteer

Hospice Volunteer Duties

Hospice volunteers play a vital role in providing comfort, companionship, and support to patients and families during end-of-life care. Duties may include:

1. Patient Support
• Visit patients in their homes, assisted living, or nursing facilities.
• Offer companionship through conversation, reading, listening to music, or simply being present.
• Provide emotional comfort and reassurance.
• Engage patients in light activities such as playing cards, journaling, or watching TV.

2. Family Support
• Offer respite care, allowing caregivers time to rest or attend appointments.
• Provide a compassionate presence and listening ear to family members.
• Help with light household tasks or errands (as appropriate).

3. Administrative/Office Support
• Assist with filing, mailings, data entry, or phone calls in the hospice office.
• Help prepare materials for training or community events.
