Delivery Driver for Adaptive Equipment Library

You can be a lifeline for your neighbors throughout Santa Cruz County that are isolated due to disabiltiy by delivering free, adaptive equipment. Many people living with a disability can't drive and are unable to access our library.
The Rainbow Family Resource Center is a peer-driven resource collective dedicated to supporting neurodivergent and disabled individuals across the lifespan in Santa Cruz County. Whether an individual has short-term injuries or life-long disabilities, the adaptive equipment library is a free resource for all Santa Cruz County residents that grants access to free adaptive equipment tools. Our library boasts a large stock of educational materials, mobility aids, accessibility items, and more, for individuals of all ages and sizes. This library is not only completely free to use, but runs on community donations and volunteer time by our dedicated Rainbow team. Because many of our clients are disabled, have limited incomes, or have limited access to transportation, we personally pick up and deliver adaptive equipment about 90% of the time.

Drivers are responsible for completing our volunteer training, maintaining client confidentiality for the folks we serve, and performing their volunteer tasks with care. Pickup and delivery volunteers must have a vehicle in working condition, a clean driving record, and be able to provide proof of insurance. All volunteers must be willing to submit a background check.

We are dedicated to providing volunteer opportunities to neurodivergent and disabled individuals. If you or a loved one have a physical, developmental, or intellectual disability, we would be happy to find an adaptive opportunity that works for your needs! Volunteers are encourage to join the Rainbow Family collective, which offers its members the opportunity to vote on Rainbow program decisions and access collective member benefits.

Volunteers also help with library events and organizing and maintaining the library. You can help with any or all of these projects!
