Docent for Wetlands Watch

Interested in becoming an Education Field Trip Docent? Our Education Programs Coordinator, Stephanie Rios, hosts a monthly training to prepare volunteers to help support our Wetland Steward Interns during afterschool field trips.
Docent training includes a better understanding of the Wetland Steward Internship Program, discussing the various field trip locations, and what a role of a docent is during the field trips.

Training: Because our docents go out on field trips with the children, we do require a 4 week (20 hours total) training process. But don’t let that deter you! Many docents say this is one of their favorite parts of their volunteer experience.

Docent trainees are treated to an inside look at the Pajaro Valley and its wide network of wetlands. Local experts share the ecology, history, and restoration of the wetland.
