Opportunity Details
Support habitat restoration of popular day use areas and trails by planting native species and removing non-native vegetation. Target non-native species are Himalayan blackberry (Rubus armeniacus) and Ice plant (Carpobrotus edulis).
Volunteers wear gloves and use hand tools such as hori horis, pulaskis, hand clippers, and loppers to remove encroaching vegetation around plantings. We employ 5-gallon buckets or other water carrying equipment to transfer water to the planting areas. Ages 8 and older welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a signed waiver). Snacks will be provided, we encourage volunteers to bring personal lunches are recommended. Steamers Lane Coffee Supply has food to purchase if volunteers want lunch or snacks/refreshments.
