Opportunity Details
Meals on Wheels of Santa Cruz County provides home delivered meals to frail and homebound older adults throughout Santa Cruz County. We have daily routes Monday - Friday.Volunteers come to the main site in Live Oak at 9:30 am to pick up the food and receive a route. Each route has several stops (homes) located in a specific geogrphic area.
Delivery is usualy 90 minutes to 2 hours.
Must be able to drive (valid CA drivers license and insurance) and bend and lift 10-20 pounds without difficulty. Some walking up stairs may be required, depending on the residence. You can sign up to volunteer with a friend or partner. A background check is required, due to the population served.
Assignment is coordinated to meet program and individual availability and needs. Meals on Wheels currently delivers meals to 600 older adults each month. Meals on Wheels is a program of Community Bridges.
