Out of County Transportation Coordinator

POSITION:           OUT OF COUNTY VOLUNTEER TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR

PROGRAM:         LIFT LINE

 

                                                                        This is a Volunteer Position

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the Division Director, makes ride reservations and compiles schedules for out of county transportation program; provides office assistance in other transportation related matters; performs related work as required.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:          

 

  1. Schedules and coordinates rides according to priority and available space for out of county transportation program.

2.       Plans schedules in an effective manner to maximize driver efficiency and minimize travel time and miles driven; revises schedules as unanticipated situations arise.

  1. Keeps records for assigned function.

4.       Acts in an independent and responsible manner in making decisions about complex and diverse scheduling activities.

5.       Receives and screens telephone calls providing information as necessary or directing the caller to the proper person.

6.       Determines eligibility for the program accepts reservations and records appointments.

7.       Receives donations and hands them over to the Human Resources administrative assistant.

8.       Uses a variety of standard office equipment such as adding machine, copier and a personal computer.

9.       Inputs and retrieves data on an in-house computer system.

10.   Explains program policies and requirements to clients, members of human service and community organizations, and the public.

11.   Receives client complaints, follows up and if necessary, refers for further action to appropriate person.

12.   Communicates effectively and respectfully with people from different racial, ethnic and cultural groups and from different backgrounds and lifestyles; demonstrates a knowledge of and sensitivity to their needs.

 

            MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Must be willing to learn the job duties and responsibilities.
  • Record keeping practices.

·         Expertise in dealing tactfully, cooperatively, and effectively with other agency staff members, community organizations, and the public, including people from different racial, ethnic and cultural groups and from different backgrounds and lifestyles.        

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must have basic computer knowledge.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Must be willing to volunteer a minimum of 15 hours a week.
  • Must pass a criminal background check administered by human resources.
