2023 Garden Group Volunteer

Passionate about gardening, health, wellness and giving back to the community? We're looking for someone special to support our weekly garden group in our Healthy Connections program in Santa Cruz for adults living with mental illnesses.

The garden group is every week for one hour and an additional 3 hours, give or take on garden maintenance. Gardening has shown to make a real, positive impact on people's mental wellness, so our volunteer group volunteers are a part of a team supporting and empowering people to improve their lives on a pathway to wellness and recovery. The garden group is part of Community Connection's innovative and whole-person centered program, Healthy Connections.

Qualifications
  • gardening experience
  • experience facilitating a group
  • knowledge or interest about health and wellness, healthy lifestyle choices
  • experience working with adults living with a mental illness or lived mental health experience, either personally or with a close family member or friend
  • able to lift up to 30 pounds
