Help clean up flooded homes in Watsonville on Bridge Street and the surrounding aerea.
This is a physically demanding volunteer project!
We are scheduled to be here on Wednesday and Thursday (January 18 and 19) and we will be adding more days next week.
If you have your own N-95 mask, gloves or other protective equipement or tools please bring. We do have basic tools for volunteers to use.
Please wear sturdy shoes or waders and long sleeves and pants that can get dirty.
We are also in need of landscapers with wood chippers that can help with chipping wood. If you have this resource and can donate or discound your services please email connect@scvolunteercenter.org
Schedule for the day:
Morning shift: CHECK IN from 9:30 to 10:00 - break into groups and assign houses
10:00am to 12:00pm - lots of hard work shoveling mud and removing damaged property to dumpsters.
12:00 to 12:30 - Return to check in site and report back on progress.
Afternoon Shift: CHECK IN from 12:30 - 1:00pm break into groups and assign houses 1:00pm - 3:00pm - lots of hard work shoveling mud and removing damaged property to dumpsters.
3:00pm - Return to meet up site and clean up and return tools.
We are using the parking lot a t the Watsonville Buddhist Temple to meet. You can park in the parking lot at the temple.
We will be dividing between 5 homes each day and working in teams.
All homeowners and tenants are expecting us but we need to collect permision forms from them (we will provide you with all information when you arrive).
Please sign up for the shift that works best for you - teams are great you can work together. If a shift is full you can sign up for the waitlist - we may be able to add volunteers if we get more homeowners reaching out and more supplies.
