We have 2 shifts - you are welcome to join either shift - and we still have space to bring friends.
9:00 AM start time OR 11:00 AM start time
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
1) Meeting location is Pajaro Middle School - 250 Salinas Rd, Pajaro, CA 95076.
Directions: Coming from Santa Cruz County - take the 129 / Riverside Exit off Highway 1 and drive away from the beach. Turn Right onto Main Street - Cross the Pajaro River Bridge and the Road turns into Salinas Rd.
Parking is limited - there is some parking available in the lot behind the middle school - go down Fremont St. and go to the 2nd gate - tell the lot monitor that you are there to volunteer. Plan to park on the street and give yourself extra time.
Check in at the trailer marked "Hope City Crisis Village"
2) Wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes! You will be given a Tyvek suit, gloves and mask to wear while volunteering. This is because the sewage line broke and there is contamination in the mud. It is slippery and muddy so wear sturdy shoes that you can clean.
3) You may bring friends with you - but please carpool if you do.
4) If you are Bilingual, English/Spanish you may be asked to go out with a skilled construction crew to help with communicating with homeowners - or be with one of our teams or stay at the Middle School to help with resident intake. If you have a preference for your assignment, please let us know when you check in.
5) If you have your own shovel that you can bring, please do! It is best if you can label it with tape or spray paint so you don't lose it. We are trying to give residents our tools if we have extras, so bringing your own is helpful. If you want to bring any other supplies, the most useful at this time are clean up tools to share with residents (stiff brushes, brooms, rubber boots, shovels, rags, etc).
8) Our focus is to bring debris to the curb and remove mud from in front of homes, in homes and in yards.
