Seymour Center School Volunteers Inspire Youth to Protect our Oceans!

Inspire the next generation by leading hands-on field trip activities and guided tours for school groups visiting the Seymour Marine Discovery Center. Become part of the Seymour Center's outstanding team of School Programs Instructors and engage kids in the fascinating world of marine science. Help foster the desire to protect our oceans and take action for the planet.

What are the requirements? Enjoy working with groups of children and the attitude of a lifelong learner.

  • Must be responsible, punctual, and reliable;
  • enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds;
  • desire to learn and engage youth and adults in marine science and conservation through hands-on activities and interpretive tours;
  • be comfortable working with live marine animals;
  • enjoy working cooperatively with a team of other volunteers and staff;
  • be at least 18 years old.
Previous experience working with children is preferred but not required. Knowledge of marine science is not required but is helpful; no experience is necessary.

Volunteer School Programs Instructors commit to one regularly scheduled 3-hour morning shift every week during the school year (mid September through May). Shifts are available Tuesday through Friday.
