Office Volunteer Description

 

Curious about our program? Come learn the basics and specifics of how Meals on Wheels operates, while helping support seniors!

 

Our office team is the strong foundation of the Meals on Wheels Program. Volunteers are often needed to support the program through a variety of office and administrative tasks. Training and duties are as described below, and other duties may be assigned as they arise. 

 

You’ll be trained on:

  • Eligibility requirements for our program
  • Meals delivery procedure and requirements 
  • Dining site information 
  • Meal information
  • Filemaker Pro 
  • Copy machine
  • Staff members and their job duties 

 

Job Duties:

  • Answer the main reception telephone to take outside calls
  • Call participants with program information
  • Take down participant information accurately
  • Intakes of HDM (Home Delivered Meals) applicants
  • Transfer calls to the right person
  • Create file folders and file paperwork
  • Enter accurate records 
  • Create menus
  • Stuff & stamp envelopes for donation request letters
  • Write birthday cards
  • Print out daily route sheets, count sheets, and tally sheets
  • Other office duties

 

Requirements:

  • A commitment of at least 2 hours per week
  • Have courteous customer service skills 
  • Have excellent phone etiquette 
  • Be available between 9am - 4pm (timing is very flexible)
