Resource Friends

Safe Families for Children is a family preservation movement with the mission of creating a world where children are safe and families are transformed through radically compassionate communities.

Resource Friends assist Host Families and Families in Crisis with goods and services they may need, such as meals, clothing, other supplies. They can also donate their professional services such as car repair, day care providers, barbers or stylists, etc.

Host Families provide daytime or short-term overnight care (one day to a couple of months) to children for a temporary period of time while parents get back on their feet.

Being a volunteer with Safe Families is very flexible. After a volunteer is certified and trained, you will receive occasional requests for support. Depending on whether it is a good time for your schedule, you may opt to help or not with a particular family need. Each volunteer role has different time requirements depending on the situation. It may vary between 1-5 hours per week (other than if a volunteer is hosting a child in their home for a period of time). As a family successfully works through their situation, the time commitment is less, however we encourage continued relationship between our volunteers and the family they are supporting, as relationship is a key component in safety and secure relationship building.

Being a volunteer with SFFC is extremely rewarding! We often hear from our volunteers that although they became a part of the movement to help others, that they too gained so much through the experience. Volunteers share that being a part of SFFC is rewarding and impactful on their entire family.
We provide on-going optional trainings related to supporting the populations we support.
If intern hours are needed, we are happy to verify this for your school or workplace.
