Amazing items, terrific values! Gain retail experience by volunteering as a cashier in the Grey Bears Thift Store! All proceeds from sales go to support the Brown Bag Program, providing healthy groceries to 4,200 seniors each week.
Volunteer shifts everyday from 8:00am to 4:30pm (most shifts are 4-hours)
Our volunteers sort through a treasure trove of donated items, including clothing, furniture, housewares, jewelry, plants and garden gifts, books, music, fabrics, medical equipment, games, puzzles, sporting goods, bikes, exercise equipment, and much more. They find treasures others might see as trash and help our thrift store here at Grey Bears thrive.
Thrift Store volunteers fill one of the following roles:
1) Receiving Donations, sorting, organizing and greeting public
2) Testing Electronics
3) Stock, Merchandise and Customer Service, keeping the thrift store organized, creating displays and putting items out in the store.
4) Book Shelving
5) Book Research, use a computer to look up book titles for pricing and prepping valuable books to be sold online.
Most volunteers commit to one shift a week and keep a regular schedule.
If you are social person who can work independently and with a group you will be a great fit! Volunteers are on their feet a lot, picking up donations and may be inside or outside, depending on the position.
Volunteer orientations are on Wednesdays at 10 AM and volunteers get more training when they start.
All volunteers receive a free lunch and coffee every day they volunteer with us.
