Adult Literacy Tutor
If you have a passion for teaching and reading, this opportunity is for you! The Literacy Center is in need of patient, empathetic individuals to assist adults in their literacy skills development. Literacy tutors are essential to helping adults develop the skills they need to confidently read and write in a variety of situations.
The Literacy Center is currently open part-time: Monday and Wednesday from 8am to 12 noon. Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30am to 6:30pm. Actual time spent tutoring is normally between 1-3 hours per week, and schedules are flexible to accommodate the needs of the tutor and the student.
Virtual volunteering is available.
- Must be a high school graduate or GED with the ability to read and write at the 10th-grade level. Ability to model patience and support is important.
- Orientation is required and will be provided. Literacy Center Staff provides training, guidance, all resources, and assistance
