River Health Days
Make a difference in the lower San Lorenzo River ecosystem by volunteering for a River Health Day with the Coastal Watershed Council. River Health Days focus on improving habitat conditions and biodiversity along the river by pulling pesky invasive vegetation, planting native seedlings and weeding around established native plants so they have room to grow and thrive.
River Health Days occur on the second Saturday of the month. Meet on the east Santa Cruz Riverwalk (opposite side from downtown) between the Soquel Ave. and Laurel St. bridges. Please consider walking or biking to the event as parking in the area is very limited. Parking is available in the CWC/Good Times parking lot at 107 Dakota Ave. Paid parking is available along Dakota Ave. or across the river in downtown Santa Cruz.
Gloves and tools provided. Volunteers should dress in comfortable gardening clothes, including long pants and sturdy closed-toe shoes. Bring sun protection and a reusable water bottle. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Call (831) 464 9200 x 104 with any questions before the event.
