Opportunity Details

Evergreen Cemetery for MLK Day

Join us for a morning of restoration and beautification at Evergreen Cemetery on Martin Luther King Day of Service from 9:30am to 12:30pm, Monday, January 20th.

Please bring water.

Gloves and tools will be provided, but if you have your own gloves please bring them.  We'll have a variety of projects to choose from.

History is more than just a story in a book. Many of the adventurous people who arrived in the 1800s and helped change Santa Cruz from a small Mexican village and Catholic Mission into a growing modern city are found at Evergreen Cemetery. Gold prospectors, artists, Chinese immigrants, mountain men, Yankees, Civil War veterans, lawyers, Masons, infants, and the forgotten are among those buried in Evergreen Cemetery. Research local history.

When you walk through Evergreen, hear family stories, and touch the beautifully carved tombstones, history comes alive. Visit Evergreen or attend an event. Join MAH in a major effort to restore and transform Evergreen Cemetery into an inspiring place for learning local Santa Cruz history.
