Volunteer Leader Training

Best Practices Volunteer Management Training
At this short, informative training, we will equip you with the key tools and strategies to run highly effective, inspiring volunteer projects that make an immediate, positive impact in our community. Once trained, you can lead one of our Featured Service Projects, design an original project to lead, or apply your learnings in your current position.

The Next Volunteer Leader Training:  
 Monday, April 9th from 6:00-8:00pm @
The Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz County (in the First Floor Classroom)

All volunteers in attendance will receive a volunteer leader tool-kit, featuring best practices manuals and project checklists bundled up electronically. All trained leaders will also be invited to join our volunteer leader learning community.

Volunteer Leaders Work On Causes Our Community Cares About:

  • Academic Enrichment For Children
Featured Project: Lead youth volunteers to facilitate math and reading games for children who are struggling academically (Monday, Tuesday or Thursday afternoons)

  • Hunger & Homelessness: 
Featured Project: Direct and support youth volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks, including food prep, pantry stocking, and clothing sorts during the weekly youth project at Pajaro Valley Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry and Kitchen (Wednesday afternoons).

  • Senior Support & Community Building:  
Featured Project A:  Supervise and support volunteers as they tutor seniors on computers, email, cell phones and igadgets to help them stay connected in the digital age. (Saturday afternoons) 

Featured Project B:   Support community volunteers to deliver festive holiday activities for low-income seniors at El Centro Senior Apartments (Saturdays).

  • Civic & Community:
Featured Project: Lead a work crew of community volunteers to help maintain and restore the historic Evergreen Cemetery near Harvey West park. (Saturday mornings/afternoons)
