Resources for Organizations
The Volunteer Center is a resource to our non-profits, schools, and goverment partners who want to effectively utilize volunteers to advance their mission.
We provide the tools to help you recruit, retain, and recognize your volunteers. Additionally we can help you sustain your valuable programs through fundraising at the Human Race.
VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT
More than 1500 local residents view our site each month to learn about new opportunities and organizations in need. Last year we referred over 6,000 volunteers to our partners.
By using our site, volunteers may reach out to you in a number of ways:
- They may express interest directly through our site.
- They may email the opportunity coordinator identified in your posting
- They may call your organization after viewing the posting
Additionally, volunteers may be referred after a one-on-one consultation at the Volunteer Center through our Volunteer Match Program

VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION
Each year through the Be the Difference Awards, we offer a community wide opportunity to recognize local individuals, businesses, and groups or non-profits for the substantial contributions they make through volunteerism. This is an excellent opportunity for you to honor and publicize the good works of your volunteers or your organization. The Call for Nominations is currently open through Sept 26, 2011. The A ward Ceremony will take place on October 20, 2011
Volunteer Retention is a crucial component to a successful Volunteer Program. 1 in 6 volunteers leave their volunteer position within several months. There are many excellent resources out their to help you maximize your volunteer managment efforts through better retention.
