SunWork Renewable Energy Projects

http://sunwork.org

SunWork (sunwork.org) is a Bay Area nonprofit that installs rooftop solar energy systems with the help of volunteers. We install systems for homes that use less than $100/mo of electricity (excluding electric-vehicle usage) and also do installations for other nonprofits, such as schools and churches. Our mission is to make solar energy more available and affordable to these markets which are often overlooked by for-profit installers. SunWork provides free 3-hr training workshops that cover the basics of solar energy, steps for installing photovoltaic (PV) systems, use of power tools, rooftop safety, etc. After the training, volunteers are eligible to participate in SunWork's installations and get hands-on experience. Many of our volunteers are interested in moving into green-collar careers. No prior experience of any type is needed.
