Homeless Garden Project is planning a community service day of work at our farm on Shaffer Road off of Delaware Avenue.
We are hoping to host 75-100+ volunteers to come to our farm and help us prepare the farm for winter. Goals for the day will be clearing beds and seeding winter cover crops, identifying and removing noxious weeds, mulching and beautifying paths and garden beds, and other associated seasonal farm tasks!
The work day will begin at 10:00am where we will host an introductory circle to introduce new volunteers to HGP's mission, and work until 12:30pm when we will be joined by our event sponsor, TOGO's, who will provide all volunteers, with sandwiches, chips, and iced-tea.
National Make A Difference Day is an annual community service event which is held on the fourth Saturday in October. Millions of people have united in the common mission to improve the lives of others. Homeless Garden Project wants to invite our local Santa Cruz (and beyond) community to rally together to work on the farm to build a caring community to help remove the stigmas surrounding homelessness.
