2018 Sheep to Shawl Fiber Arts Fair at Live Earth Farm

Farm Discovery at Live Earth is a nonprofit organization working in the Pajaro Valley community to empower youth and families to build and sustain healthy food, farming, social and natural systems. We believe that we can transform personal and community health and improve our impact on earth by building and sustaining collaborative agricultural, ecological and social systems. We believe that communities armed with knowledge and the skills of inquiry can transform food, farming and natural systems for the better.

Volunteer at our event on March 16th where the public will see the transformation of freshly sheared wool into woven products. We need help setting up the event, running the demonstrations and taking it down. Volunteers will help us show that transformation by staffing our activities stations. 

Stations include cleaning the wool, dying the wool, carding, spinning, and weaving. No experience necessary. The activities are simple and quickly learned. There are fiber arts experts at the event as well to help everyone learn something new. An ideal volunteer will have a willingness to help children learn. 

Event Docents act as ambassadors of our farm, lead learning stations, collect parking fees, set-up and clean-up.
