Transportation for Cancer Patients
Because there are many ways a cancer diagnosis can impact a woman’s life on a daily basis, our wonderful family of volunteers offers a wide array of practical support to women undergoing treatments. Transportation volunteers provide practical support to women with cancer by giving rides to and from medical appointments. This is an easy way to make a big difference in the lives of others!Volunteer Benefits: “It’s like I’ve sprinkled pixie dust over their seat because the minute that they get into the car they just outpour whatever they are going through. I’m a sounding board. I listen, I have two ears, they can talk them off… they will grow back. It just gives me so much and I learn so much from them” - WomenCARE Volunteer Driver
“Every weekday for 6 weeks, WomenCARE's volunteer drivers get me safely and reliably to my radiation treatments at Stanford South Bay. Their generosity is amazing -they provide this service in their own cars and pay for the gas themselves -but best of all is their genuine friendliness and our impromptu conversations. We talk about fly fishing, cycling, bears, hiking, pets, recipes, movies, books, even politics and sometimes about cancer. Time flies with such good company and transforms this difficult trip into a pleasant one!” – WomenCARE Client
