Come help us celebrate Earth Day at Loch Lomond by joining our "Broom Bash!"
April 22, 2017 from 10am-2pm
The work site is a ridgeline in a protected watershed area right outside the park boundary that is normally closed to public access. We will be pulling invasive French broom plant using our hands and weed wrenches. This ridgeline has been overgrown by broom in the past and requires consistent management. Broom is a strong competitor and can quickly dominate landscapes and outcompete native flora which impacts wildlife, wildfires and more.
Volunteers get free entry into the park for the day and light snacks will be available as well. Bring your own favorite pair of work gloves or borrow a pair of ours. We will meet at Loch Lomond at the Glen Corrie picnic area at 10 AM and shuttle to the work site together in city vehicles. Bathrooms will be available at the meeting site and at the work site.
